But the longer you hold that smoke in your lungs, the more you are potentially hurting your lungs with tar and toxins. Studies show that holding in a hit will likely not make you higher.

In fact, slow, shallow puffs are likely going to be more effective. The majority of THC is absorbed in the first few seconds of an inhale. That weird “high” you get from holding it?

It’s probably because you’re depriving yourself of oxygen and getting light-headed. There’s no exact science for how long you should hold a bit, as everyone is different. But longer than 10 seconds? Excessive.
