Tupac and Robin Williams Busted With Over 110 Pounds of Weed

Arizona Department of Public Safety got quite the surprise when they pulled over a truck that had Tupac, Robin Williams, and 114 pounds of marijuana in it.

Picture a white Chevrolet pickup truck cruising through the desert down an Arizona highway. It’s a not a scene that would usually arouse much attention. But for authorities from the Arizona Department of Public Safety, this was no ordinary pickup truck. And that’s because Robin Williams was driving it, with Tupac riding shotgun.

Not something you see every day.

No wonder authorities quickly saddled up behind the pair, flipped on their sirens, and pulled them over for an alleged traffic violation.

Not long after, Tupac and Robin Williams were busted for the 114 pounds of cannabis they had hidden in the truck.

A Star-Studded Drug Bust

The paperwork for this drug bust reads like the VIP list to a celebrity gala from the 90s. But the suspects police busted with more than 110 pounds of marijuana were famous in name only.

However, now they’re famous for the names they gave authorities after Public Safety officers turned up the bricks of cannabis they were carrying. In fact, the marijuana cops confiscated is reportedly worth approximately $70,000 in Arizona.

Here’s how this star-studded drug bust went down. A pair of young people were trafficking cannabis through Arizona when highway patrol pulled them over for a traffic violation.

When asked, the driver, who is a 21-year-old woman from Albuquerque, New Mexico, said her name was Robin Williams. Then her companion, a 19-year-old man from the same city, gave officers an ID with the name Tupac Crum.

Troopers were immediately suspicious of the pair. They assumed they were using fake names. They also saw indicators of possible criminal activity. So they radioed for backup and a K9 officer to come to the scene.

Next, after the K9 unit arrived, the officers conducted a search. The search produced quite a find: 5 large plastic-wrapped packages of cannabis tucked underneath a pile of tools and equipment in the bed of the truck. That was the moment

Arizona Public Safety officers slapped the cuffs on Robin Williams and Tupac Crum, busting them for exactly 114.7 pounds of cannabis worth $69,000.

Drug Trafficking on the Southern Border

After the bust, Arizona law enforcement agencies launched a state-wide investigation. According to the US Department of Justice, drug trafficking through the southwest border is a major concern.

The investigation led to the arrest of a third person in connection with Robin Williams and Tupac. Police also arrested Erick Harris, a 22-year-old also from Albuquerque. “Through interagency cooperation and the combination of our resources, we will continue to remove dangerous drugs off the streets.

Together we are committed to making communities in Arizona safer through the aggressive enforcement of our state’s drug laws,” Arizona Department of Public Safety Assistant Director, Lt. Col. Hunter said in a statement.

Of course, Robin Williams, the legendary comedian, actor and cannabis advocate, committed suicide on August 11, 2014. Williams was 63 and died at his home in Paradise Cay, California. Rap icon Tupac Shakur, whose music career lasted just five years, died in 1996 after he was gunned down in Las Vegas at the age of 25.

It’s unclear whether suspects in the Arizona bust were using the names of hugely famous pop culture icons for cover. It might just be a wild coincidence. Tupac and Robin Williams busted for cannabis.
