Saturday Night Live star Pete Davidson has a reputation for loving cannabis. In fact, his comedic persona is largely built off the “stoner” image. For example, he often makes weed-related jokes on SNL, and he’s talked a lot about cannabis in other settings as well. Most recently, the actor ran into some potential legal troubles when Pete Davidson was pulled over with weed and dabs in the vehicle.
Busted in New York
The incident occurred in Fayatteville, New York, located just outside Syracuse. While in town shooting a movie called “Big Time Adolescence,” Davidson and a friend were pulled over by cops.
According to local news sources, Davidson was driving the car with a man named Jeremy Gay, Jr. as passenger. It’s unclear at this point exactly why police pulled the vehicle over.
But one way or another, the cops eventually discovered that Gay had some weed with him. But it wasn’t just flower. He also reportedly had an undisclosed amount of dabs with him, too.
As a result, Gay is apparently facing a violation for possession of marijuana. Additionally, he is facing a much more serious charge for the dabs. Reports said that Gay is facing a fourth-degree felony charge for possession of concentrated cannabis.
At this point, it appears that cops did not find anything on Davidson. Similarly, it looks like the comedian was not charged with any crimes.
Pete Davidson and Marijuana
This is definitely not the first time Davidson’s name has been linked to marijuana. In fact, cannabis is a big part of the actor’s personal and professional life.
In many of his roles on both SNL and various movies, Davidson often cracks cannabis related jokes. Similarly, he regularly plays weed-smoking characters or pothead-type characters.
Most recently, he was featured in a music video with rapper Machine Gun Kelly. In it, he appeared to be smoking weed.
But cannabis isn’t just a good punchline or an edgy public image for Davidson. He also consumes it in his personal life for health reasons.
In 2016, he did an interview with High Times. During the interview, he explained that he has Crohn’s disease. He went on to say that medical marijuana was one of the only ways he could effectively treat the disorder.
Since then, Davidson has dealt with some serious mental health challenges. At one point, after being diagnosed with borderline personality disorder and suffering a nervous breakdown, the comedian decided to stop consuming weed for a time.
Is Pete Davidson Still Smoking Weed?
While Davidson has been very open about his relationship with weed, it’s unclear exactly where things stand right now. Although his recent music video cameo may suggest that his hiatus from weed may be over.
In any case, it appears that he did not have any cannabis with him last week when he was pulled over by cops.
Beyond his run-in with authorities, Davidson has been receiving a lot of public attention recently, after proposing to pop singer Ariana Grande.
