Basketball Wives Star Shaunie O’Neal Starts A Weed Business

Yet another celebrity has entered the Green Rush.

Season 7 of the popular reality show Basketball Wives is fully underway, and like virtually every other season, the drama is at full tilt. However, one of the underlying storylines of this season is vastly different than any other iteration of the same. Let’s just say the premise is fairly ‘green’.

Shaunie O’Neal, the ex-wife of Hall of Fame center Shaquille O’Neal, has proven to be an entrepreneur in every sense of the word. This time, however, she’s taking her talents into one of the most burgeoning industries in America—the legal weed business.

In the trailer for what’s to come this season, the girls take a trip to Amsterdam to get some intel for Shaunie’s new business.

However, it doesn’t look like any of the wives are what you would consider a regular ‘toker.’

“Honestly, none of us can rock the weed,” O’Neal says as the video pans to the entire cast’s smoke sesh. The cypher is filled with futility, as most of the women begin coughing their lungs out.

A valiant effort, nonetheless.

The trailer later features a snippet of the women’s trip.

“Here’s to a successful weed excursion/ research moment for my business,” O’Neal declares.

As they touch down to Amsterdam, the women are amazed at the brand new culture.

“The red light district, where the women are on swings and their coochies is out,” Jackie says through a grin as wide as… actually we’ll stop right there.

However, O’Neal clearly is there for one reason and one reason only—starting a successful weed business.

‘It’s important we stand out from the competition,” O’Neal states.

With the multi-billion dollar recreational weed market coming into full-effect, standing out from the competition has never been so difficult. However, with Shaunie O’Neal becoming a household name through her Basketball Wives career, she’s got a leg up on a lot of her competition from the jump.

Unfortunately for O’Neal, however, she’s hardly the first ‘celebrity’ turning their attention to the legal weed industry. We’ve seen the likes of Snoop Dogg, Xzibit, Anthony Anderson, and even the Trailer Park Boys get in on legal cannabis. Not to mention Al Harrington, a former NBA player himself, whose made a second career out of the plant.

But, hey, if all these already-affluent members of society are doing it, why can’t Shaunie O’Neal?

To see the Basketball Wives hit Amsterdam for yourself, tune in on Mondays at 9/8c on VH1.
