Terrifying Ways To Get High

Humans will seemingly go to any length to get high, even if it sometimes means eating, drinking, smoking, or otherwise ingesting weird things in weird—and sometimes dangerous—ways. Without further ado, here are the all-time most terrifying ways humans have attempted to get high:

Krokodil

Let’s be clear right from the start: Krokodil is some f*cked up sh*t.

Apparently originating somewhere in Russia, krokodil is made from a dangerous concoction of painkillers (for the codeine), lighter fluid, and various household cleaning solutions.

It produces effects similar to heroin, and is so dangerous because it essentially eats the flesh off a user’s body.

Jenkem

Jenkem is one of those realities that’s definitely stranger than fiction. Jenkem is basically fermented human piss and sh*t that people huff in a tragic attempt to get high.

Butt Chugging Cough Syrup

At times, butt chugging cough syrup has been a bit of a fad. The basic idea is to pour cough syrup directly into the user’s anus for super quick absorption into the bloodstream.

The biggest danger with this is that dosage is really hard to control, and in the event of an overdose it’s almost impossible for doctors to know where to focus their efforts.

Butt chugging has even been known to kill people.

Vodka Eyeballing

In some ways similar to the concept of butt chugging, some people have apparently poured vodka into their eye sockets in an attempt to give themselves a super fast, super powerful buzz.

Not surprisingly, the American Academy of Ophthalmology has thoroughly condemned this as a bad idea.

Carbogen

Carbogen is a combination of carbon dioxide and oxygen that tricks people’s bodies into thinking they’re suffocating.

This sounds like an absolute nightmare, but apparently there are people who claim it can produce some interesting hallucinations and sensations.

Stilton Cheese

This one might be a bit of a stretch since it doesn’t really give people a “high.” But what stilton cheese does do is give people some seriously trippy dreams.

In one study, a person reported eating stilton cheese before going to sleep and then having an incredibly vivid dream about a vegetarian crocodile who became angry when it couldn’t eat human children.

Nutmeg

If you’ve seen The Autobiography of Malcolm X you might remember the scene where he’s given a little bit of nutmeg as a way to get a cheap and quick high while in prison. Turns out that’s not made up.

Nutmeg can produce hallucinations, but be careful because too much nutmeg can lead to increases in heart rate, palpitations, nausea, problems urinating, and severe anxiety.

Wet

Wet is a combination of PCP and marijuana, and this drug has built up a frightening history of being involved with a number of gruesome murders and suicides.

Bromo-Dragonfly

Named for the shape of its molecular structure, bromo-dragonfly is often described as something similar to LSD.

The only difference is that bromo-dragonfly is known to send users on trips that can last as long as three days, and that have been described by some as being “dragged to hell and back again.”

Scopolamine

“The Devil’s Breath” – World’s Scariest Drug Can Block Free Will, Wipe Your Memory, & Even Kill
The drug’s real name is scopolamine, an anticholinergic drug derived from a number of trees native to South America.

Hailed in a 2013 Vice documentary as ‘the world’s scariest drug,’ scopolamine is known to turn its user (or victim rather) into a docile zombie ready to do exactly what its perpetrator wants.

After reading this strange and in many ways terrifying list, you might want to go calm down by smoking a nice bowl of clean, pure ganja, feeling good about giving yourself an all-natural, safe, and pleasant high.
