American Eclipse 2017

In all likelihood, Oregon will be a hotbed of activity during the eclipse. That’s because it lies directly in the eclipse’s path of totality.

On top of that, Oregon is one of the most weed-friendly states in the U.S. Medical weed has been legal there for years. Then in 2015, recreational weed was legalized, and in 2016, dispensaries started selling recreational cannabis.

The combination of having great views of the eclipse in a state where it’s easy to get weed could lead to some big-time tourist activity.

In fact, the Oregon Office of Emergency Management is already making plans. The agency has put together resources outlining ways to manage all the visitors the state expects to see.

Additionally, it published a statement that said: “The eclipse will arc across Oregon all the way to the southeastern coast of South Carolina, and beyond. Oregon Museum of Science & Industry estimates that this first total solar eclipse in 38 years to cross the continental United States will attract millions of spectators.”

Oregon is likely to receive a huge portion of those visitors. The agency added: “While exact numbers are very difficult to obtain, emergency managers are planning for an influx of about one million visitors into Oregon for several days on either side of the eclipse.”

Dispensary owners and cannabis business people have taken note. In fact, many weed shops have started stockpiling product in preparation for this massive influx of tourists.

According to reports from Oregon, dispensaries and other businesses such as restaurants, liquor stores, and hotels have been prepping for the spike in tourists for weeks.

In fact, many weed shops are already beginning to see an increase in business. With the eclipse only four days away, visitors are starting to show up in Oregon.

Final Hit: Oregon Weed Dispensaries Expect 1 Million Visitors

The eclipse’s path of totality will only be about 90 miles wide. Oregon experts expect to see the most concentrated activity in towns and cities nearest to that path.

Oregon is already a hotbed for the cannabis scene. Because of this, experts also plan to see a lot of overlap between weed tourism and eclipse tourism. So much so, in fact, that Oregon weed dispensaries expect 1 million visitors to show up.

Apparently, many dispensary owners are assuming that tourists will come looking for weed in addition to views of the eclipse.

And they’re assumptions are probably correct. What better way to take in a once in a lifetime celestial event than getting yourself sky-high with some killer bud at the same time?
