How To Make A Soda Can Bong

Soda Can Bongs. You may have seen them before, used them before, or made one before (but if that’s the case, you don’t need to be reading this). This step-by-step guide will have you ripping your very own soda can bong in no time.

What You’ll Need

How To Make A Soda Can Bong

  • 2-4 Soda Cans (your preference for bong height)
  • Can Opener
  • Scissors
  • Roll of tape (any kind, scotch tape preferred)
  • 1 Nail (or something similar to create holes in aluminum)

Getting Started

How To Make A Soda Can Bong

The first step is to take your soda cans and using the can opener, cut out the top of the cans. For this step, it is useful to have pliers or something similar to get the can top out from inside the can if it falls in. Repeat this process for all of the bottoms of the cans except for one; this can will be the base of your soda can bong. Occasionally with the bottom pieces won’t detach completely from the can with the opener. The pliers can once again become useful during this step.

Assembling your Bong

The next step involves the base can (the one that still has a bottom). Using your nail or sharp object, pierce a hole just below the middle of the can. Create a hole large enough to fit the end of your scissors through, and expand the hole further. You’re looking to make it roughly large enough to fit the tip of your pinky finger through.

Once this is done, take your next can and line the top of it up with the top of the base can. Using your tape, securely attach the cans and continue this process for all the cans that you’re using. Using superglue for attaching your cans can work better if you’re looking for a sturdier bong! Once your bong is assembled, the last step is the bowl.

What to Use for a Bowl

For a soda can bong, something that works really well and is very durable is a mouthpiece from a tuba or trombone. They’re a good size, and they hold up really well. However, if you do not have access to one of these mouthpieces or don’t want to spend the money, just get crafty with it! There are so many different household items you can use for a bowl.

If you don’t feel like creating your own, you can always rig a remade bowl into the cutout area of your cans and smoke it that way as well. This step of the process is very preferential, you can get as creative as you want! Just be sure that when you stick it into the bottom can that it is secure; you can use your tape here to ‘clean up’ your cut and fit your bowl in just right. Here are some visual aids to help you in your assemblage.

Be Careful!

Soda can bongs are fun and there are a bunch of different ways to make them. However, remember that you’re smoking from aluminum cans, and that isn’t something that you should make a habit of. Mix it up, use an apple or a pen or a glass bong or even just smoke a joint. Just be careful to not be smoking from soda can bongs all the time. We care about your health!
