How to Make Your Own Rick Simpson Oil

Since its discovery in 2003, Rick Simpson Oil (RSO) has been an increasingly popular treatment for a variety of diseases, including cancer.

Even more revolutionary than the medicinal applications of Risk Simpson Oil, is the fact that Simpson advocates patients make their own medicine.  This guide will teach you how to make your own RSO.

First, consider what kind of medicine you want.  Simpson recommends using indica strains since they produce higher levels of THC and produce a sleepy high, allowing patients to get rest. However, feel free to experiment with different strains depending on your needs.

Warning: This process is dangerous and can cause fires or explosions if proper precautions aren’t taken.  Ensure proper ventilation when processing.  Never smoke in or allow sparks near your work space.

This recipe is intended to yield 60 grams of RSO.  Scale recipe according to your needs, but smaller batches will burn more easily since there is less material.  Always use caution.

Ingredients:

  • 450 to 500 grams of high quality buds, dried
  • 8 to 9 liters of solvent (Pure Naptha oil is recommended, but is unavailable in the US; 99% Isopropyl Alcohol is also effective)

Tools:

  • Five-gallon bucket (or other plastic container big enough to hold your flower)
  • Wooden stick or paddle for stirring
  • Electric Rice Cooker
  • Large coffee filters
  • Funnel
  • Metal container
  • Coffee warmer or dehydrator
  • Plastic syringes (without the needles)
  • Hot Pot Holders

Directions:

  1. Add flower to bucket, pouring enough solvent over to cover
  2. Mash and stir the buds using your stick or paddle
  3. Add remaining solvent and continue to mix until buds are dissolved (about 2 – 3 minutes)
  4. Strain mixture through coffee filter, using funnel to hold filter in place
  5. Pour some of the strained mixture into rice cooker, and cook over low heat  IMPORTANT: Make sure your work space as good ventilation, using the large fan to blow  fumes away from the rice cooker.  Sparks of any kind and red hot heating elements can pose major fire hazards when making oil.  Use extreme caution.
  6. Continue adding additional mixture as the solvent evaporates out of the rice cooker
  7. Add 8 – 10 drops of water to the rice cooker once you have added the last of the mixture
  8. Lift rice cooker using hot pot holders and carefully swirl mixture to evaporate any remaining solvent
  9. Pour oil into metal container and place in dehydrator or on coffee warmer (or other low heat source)
  10. Allow remaining water to evaporate.  This could take a couple hours depending on method.
  11. Store RSO in syringes
