Grow Closet: A Step-By-Step Guide To Growing Bomb Weed In Your Closet

There are now several states where it is legal to cultivate cannabis for personal use. If you’ve decided to make yourself some pot, a grow closet is worth looking into. Even 1 by 1 foot of floor space is enough for a small at home grow. You just need to make sure your plants get proper air circulation and lighting. We’ll go over all the materials you’ll need and every step to making and using a grow closet.

Materials

You’re going to need a few things before you start your grow closet. That includes lights, soil, nutrients, containers, water, and insecticides. There are several household items you can use to grow better weed as well.

Lights

Let’s start with lights. The most popular grow lights are fluorescents. They’re popular because they’re cheap to buy, don’t use a lot of electricity and they’re strong enough for indoor gardening.

CFL grow lights are the twisty-type of fluorescent bulb you can find at most places that sell light bulbs. One of the best parts about CFL lights is they can fit into tight spaces making them perfect for growing in a closet.

Keep them 4 inches away from the tops of the plants. Make sure every part of your plant is within 8 inches of a bulb.

Soil

Go for any soil that is contaminant free at the store. The higher the quality, the better your bud. Soil that is good for cannabis should appear dark and rich.

Cannabis soil should have a loose texture, drain well, and hold water without getting muddy.

Nutrients

Don’t use artificial or salt-based fertilizers. It can cause an excess of nutrients that will ruin your end product. Plants that are rich in potassium also have increased resistance to frost. Best of all, giving your cannabis plants plenty of potassium increases the weight, density, and volume of the buds.

All you have to do is bury some banana peels in your plant’s soil and allow them to break down naturally. You can also add egg shells to your compost for calcium.

You can also buy supplemental nutrients at the store. Get food with Nitrogen, Phosphorus, and Potassium or NPK. For the growing stage, you need food with an NPK ratio of 15-5-5. And during the flowering stage, it should be 10-30-10.

Pot/Container

You’ll need a “jiffy 7 peat pot” for each of your seedlings. The roots of the plants can easily grow through the cup. Eventually, the entire cup can be placed into a 5-gallon bucket. Sterilize buckets before the plants get there.

Insecticides

Avoid synthetic and chemical insecticides. Using them can kill your plants and potentially you if you smoke them. You can keep pests off of your weed plants with safer household items.

Hygrometer

Keep an eye on your humidity. Purchase a hygrometer to see the relative humidity in your grow closet. You can also make a homemade humidifier to adjust the moisture in the room.

5 Simple Steps To Growing Bomb Buds

1. Seeds

Get a plate from your kitchen and put a wet paper towel on it. Place your seeds on it at least 1 cm apart. Place a second paper towel on top and soak it. Add food for sprouting stage or nutrient supplemented water.

Take the plate and put it under your grow lights. Add water daily to keep them soaked. In a week or less, your seeds will sprout and you can plant them in soil.

2. Soil

Once you have sprouts fill a jiffy pot close to the rim with soil. Use your index finger to push halfway into the center of the pot’s soil. Place a sprout in the hole with the root pointing up. Lightly cover the seed with soil and add nutrients to the soil. Give the baby plant plenty of light 24 hours a day and water daily.

3. Bigger Container

When your plant grows three leaf sets you are ready to move the cup into the 5-gallon bucket. Cut a hole in the bottom of the bucket and put them over trays to collect water.

Fill the bucket a few inches from the top. Dig a hole big enough for the jiffy pot. Soak your soil with nutrient supplemented water.

4. Flowering Stage

Once your plants reach about two feet in height you’re at the flowering stage. Only give your plants 12 hours of light a day. They’ll double in size by the time they reach maturity.

You have to separate your male and female plants or you’ll get weed with a bunch of seeds. Female plants have two little pistols in the shapes of V’s. Males do not.

5. Trim

Just use a scissor to trim the leaves. You can use trim to make edibles, dabs and more.

Cut the buds off and dry them as slow as possible. Don’t let the temperature get too high or the humidity too low for a slower dry. If you smell something like ammonia there is mold in your crop.

Once your weed has cured enough you can smoke your hard work away! If done right you can create some killer buds in small quarters.
