Hanks later portrayed a baseball-legend/manager in the 1992 comedy-drama A League of their Own. After his performance, Hanks began garnering dramatic roles. In 1993, Hanks starred in Sleepless in Seattle and Philadelphia, and. won his first Academy Award for the latter.

He followed up his performance in Philadelphia with one of his most iconic roles in the 1994 movie Forrest Gump. Hanks again won the Academy Award for Best Actor and became the second actor ever to accomplish such a feat in back to back years. 

Throughout the 90’s, Hanks also starred in hit movies Apollo 13, Toy Story, The Green Mile and Cast Away.

Hanks continued his success over the next two decades, starring in notable films such as Catch Me If You Can, The Terminal, The Da Vinci Code, Charlie Wilson’s War, Captain Phillips, Bridge of Spies, Sully and Inferno. 

Puff or Pass?

So does Tom Hanks smoke weed? There’s not much evidence to support that the 61-year-old actor tokes up. However, there are some clues to suggest he might be a smoker on the low.

One instance is when then-co star Halle Berry claimed to have smoked with Hanks on the set of the 2012 film Cloud Atlas. However, Berry eventually backed off her initial statements and say they smoked “in the movie”. Although this is far from a sure-thing, it’s interesting to Berry playing coy about smoking with Hanks in the interview.

Another possible, albeit minuscule clue that Hanks could smoke weed, is the fact that his son is a big-time smoker. Chet Hanks, an aspiring rapper, frequently raps about the enormous amount of weed he smokes. Perhaps, like father, like son?
