Cannabis Pizza May Be The Best Thing Ever

It is no secret that people love to push the envelope with anything and everything you could think of. When it comes to weed, this concept is no different. This article will be your go-to guide on what Cannabis pizza is and why you need it in your life.

Ways To Infuse Your Cannabis Pizza

Cannabis Pizza May Be The Best Thing Ever

There are multiple ways to get that THC infused into your favorite pizza. The ones that we’ll go over today is using infused olive oil, pizza sauce, and Cannabutter. While this isn’t a guide on how to make pizza, we’ll instead just go over how to “cannabize” your ingredients.

Olive Oil

While going the Cannabutter route may be more popular, creating cannabis infused olive is a healthier option. All you’ll need is 1 ounce of finely ground weed for every 3.5 cups of Olive Oil. The recommended method for grinding your weed is a coffee grinder, which can easily get it fine enough to use for this recipe. Once your weed is ready, heat the oil to just under a boil, add the weed powder, and constantly stir for about an hour. Once you complete this step, strain your oil into the container you’ll be keeping it in using a cheesecloth. This will get rid of any larger grounds, but be careful with the oil as it will still be hot. After that, let it cool, and you’re good to go!

Pizza Sauce

Once you’ve read the rundown on how to make cannabis oil above, the pizza sauce is easy. Take your oil, mix it in a pan with tomato paste, garlic, oregano, basil, salt, pepper, and whatever else you like, and you’ve got your sauce! (about 1/2 – 1 tablespoon of each herb, a couple garlic cloves diced, and 1 can of tomato paste). Let the sauce simmer for about 30 minutes then chill for a couple of hours before reheating for use. Your cannabis pizza is ready for preparation!

Butter

For the Cannabutter, the best recipe I found was from Lauren Finesilver, Executive Chef at the Sweet Grass Kitchen in Denver, Colorado. What you’ll need is a candy thermometer, 4 sticks of butter, 1/4 cup water, 1 ounce of cannabis trim/shake, a fine mesh sieve (pictured here), cheesecloth, and rubber gloves. Here is the process step-by-step:

With the thermometer attached to the pan, add the butter and water and heat until the frothy milk-fat rises to the top. At this point, add the cannabis, stir, and then bring to a simmer.

Check your thermometer until it hits 190 degrees, at which point reduce to low heat and cook for 2 hours, stirring about every 30 minutes. The most important part is keeping the temperature between 190 – 200 degrees, so it activates the THC.

Next, using the sieve wrapped in cheesecloth, pour out the mixture and strain, wringing the remaining solids out in the cheesecloth.

You’re almost there! Let the butter cool AT ROOM TEMPERATURE until it hits 70 degrees. Then, simply store in an airtight container in the fridge or freezer until ready to use.

Remove from refrigeration, let it soften until pliable, and be sure to discard whatever sinks to the bottom (it will naturally separate). And there you have it! This recipe makes about 1.5 cups.
