8 Ways To Accidentally Get Too Stoned

Getting too stoned isn’t the goal for most of us when we elect to get high. Here are eight of the most common mistakes when it comes to getting too stoned.

Have you ever accidentally got too stoned?

Getting too stoned isn’t the goal for most of us when we elect to get high. Sure, we’ve all been overindulged, but very rarely do we get too high by design. Usually, a simple error interrupts our plan to get the “correct” amount of high as we enter the point of no return.

The good news is while one can overdose on THC, it’s still basically impossible to die from a THC overdose. Even though death isn’t really on the table, taking too much of anything can put a damper on the occasion.

A worker at my local dispensary recently regaled me with a story about how he ate the wrong amount of edible and ended up sleeping through a three day weekend. Sounds like a nightmare.

Overdosing overwhelms you or knocks you out completely. If that’s your goal, fair play. But for most of us, it’s not. Here are – in no particular order – eight of the most common and deadliest sins when it comes to getting way too stoned.

8. You don’t know how many mg (of which strain) will get you high / you lose track

So you’re playing fast and loose. You take a few bites of chocolate instead of one, thinking 10mg or 15 should be fine. Then you eat a few gummy bears and lose track. No big deal, you think. Then thirty minutes later, while you’re washing your hands, you get stuck in a hole. You can’t talk and just want to lie down. Here’s the deal: start slow. Take 5mg. Then wait an hour and a half. Not notice anything, try a little more. But don’t just try to look cool and wing it.

7. Not knowing the potency of the weed you’re smoking

This is usually the most common reason you got too high. Either the batch of whatever you’re ingesting has been inaccurately labeled, or you fucked up the calculations. Either way, you’ve eaten too much THC. Now time is your enemy.
