Fungus Gnats

Tiny flying black bugs around your plants and in the soil? You’ve probably got fungus gnats. Fungus gnats can be a result of watering a plant too much.

Leaving the top inch of soil moist and warm will give them a breeding ground. Their eggs hatch into larvae which are responsible for damage to cannabis roots. As a result, growth is slowed, leaves show signs of nutrient deficiency, and yields might be reduced.

Even worse, fungus gnats can be the death for young cannabis plants.

What to do: Place yellow sticky cards in the grow area. Yellow to a fungus gnat is like light to a moth. The yellow sticky card is a glue trap that will catch many of the adult fungus gnats.

You can avoid watering your plants a few days and use a fan to dry out the top layer of soil. That way the gnats can no longer breed.
