Melissa Etheridge Tokes With Her Kids

In a new series of interviews, singer-songwriter Melissa Etheridge revealed that she smokes cannabis with her children. The Grammy-winning musician also said that weed has enhanced her family life, her relationship with her wife, and her health.

Toking With The Kids

The interview is part of a new series on cannabis published by Yahoo! News. In her segment, Etheridge admitted to smoking weed with two of her four children.

“I have smoked with my older two,” she said. “It was funny at first, and then they realized it’s a very natural end of the day ”

Etheridge’s oldest daughter, Bailey, is 20. Her next oldest is an 18-year-old son named Beckett. She also has two younger children, a pair of 10-year-old twins named Johnnie Rose and Miller Steven.

Etheridge said that smoking with her two oldest kids has become an important part of her life. In particular, she said it helps bring her and her kids together.

“It brings you closer,” she said. “I’d much rather have a smoke with my grown kids than a drink.”

She also said that another benefit of openly using weed with her kids is that it helps get rid of the stigma that still surrounds cannabis.

“My children have a very clear understanding of cannabis,” she said. “When I hold it without shame or confusion then they can understand it as simple as if I was pointing to a bottle of Percocet and said, ‘That’s momma’s medicine.’ You take the naughtiness out of it and it’s not something that kids then run to.”

Other Benefits

Etheridge went on to highlight a couple other important benefits of smoking weed. Along with bringing her and her kids closer together, she also said cannabis has enhanced her relationship with her wife, Linda Wallem.

In the interview, Etheridge said that she and her wife regularly smoke weed together. She explained that it enhances sexual intimacy.

Etheridge also highlighted the medicinal and health benefits of cannabis. When she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2004, the singer turned to medical marijuana.

She now credits cannabis for helping her maintain a “normal” life during chemotherapy.

Etheridge And Cannabis

Ever since her bout with cancer, Etheridge has been an outspoken advocate for cannabis. She regularly talks about how weed helped her get through chemo. And in 2016, she freestyled about weed with rapper Action Bronson.

She was also involved with last year’s Cannabis World Congress & Business Expo. At that event, she moderated a panel on sports and weed.

She even started her own cannabis company, Etheridge Farms. The company makes a number of cannabis products including topicals, smokable flower, THC cartridges, and more.
