Bob Marley Marijuana Flavored Ice Cream

Bob Marley Ice Cream

One northern-Italy gelato shop is taking the health benefits of hemp seeds to new highs with the debut of its hemp-infused and cannabis-flavored ice cream. Molto delicioso! Now, cannabis users and ice-cream enthusiasts can enjoy the health benefits of hemp in a dessert not typically associated with healthy eating. That’s precisely the mission behind the gelato company’s decision to make a tribute to reggae legend and well-known cannabis supporter, Bob Marley. The parlor has created an amazing hemp seed flavored gelato not just in honor of Bob Marley, but also in hopes of raising awareness about the health benefits of hemp, as reported by The Local Italy.

Producers of the hemp seed gelato claim their ice cream provides “beneficial properties due to the high presence of fatty acids, which make it a valuable way to fight and prevent different ailments including arteriosclerosis, cholesterol, osteoarthritis, respiratory disorders, eczema, and acne.”

Hemp seed ice cream is making its debut in Italy, but award-winning U.S. creameries have been in the cannabis ice-cream game for a while now. The entire edibles market in the U.S. has soared since the legalization of medical marijuana in more than 30 states.

California-based Isaac Lappert, a third-generation ice cream maker, and a graduate of the Culinary Institute has developed cannabis-infused ice cream at his aptly named Cannabis Creamery in Sausalito.

Lappert’s nonprofit collective has been supplying cannabis ice cream to legal, medical marijuana dispensaries for more than a year. In April 2015, the organization took first place in the “Best Edible” contest at San Francisco’s HempCon. Read the review in the International Business Times.

The famous Ben & Jerry have also voiced their enthusiasm for cannabis ice cream and have recently expressed interest in developing a few unique cannabis flavors. This makes some sense, considering marijuana enthusiasts are already huge fans of the Vermont duo.
