Master Your pH Levels And Grow Better Weed

First, let’s go over some basic Chemistry.

pH is the numeric scale used to measure the acid-alkaline balance in soil or water.  The scale runs from 1 (acid) to 14 (alkaline or base) and 7 is neutral.

Many forces influence the pH level in your growing medium: your soil, water, and even the plant itself can change the pH in your grow.  Fertilizers and plant foods will also change your pH level.

Marijuana plants thrive in slightly acidic growing media, ranging between 5.5 and 6.5.

Plants grown hydroponically require a slightly more acidic pH level, somewhere between 5.5 and 6; whereas soil grown plants prefer the 6.0 to 6.5 range.

Ideally, you want to keep the pH at about 6.0 in order to allow yourself some wiggle room.

Frequent monitoring of pH is important for gardeners because the pH affects the solubility of nutrients.  If your soil is too acidic or too alkaline then certain nutrients and trace elements are no longer available for your plant’s roots.

In other words, if your pH is off then your plants aren’t getting crucial nutrients, which they need to get big and produce trichomes.

Luckily, it is ridiculously easy to monitor and adjust your pH level.

Here is what you need:

Directions:

  1. When setting up your grow, test the pH of your growing media as well as the water you plan to use.  The pH of tap water can vary greatly between places.  Knowing the starting point of your grow will save you a lot of trouble down the line.
  2. Each time you water test pH of the runoff.
  3. Use pH-Up or pH-Down as needed.
  4. Profit.
